Ronda, situated in the northwest of the province of Malaga, is seated atop a plateau cut by a deep ravine carved by the river Guadalevín.  The historic district's beautiful buildings line the river, giving the city a picturesque panorama which, along with its variety of monuments, its natural environment, and its proximity to the bigger tourist centres of the Costa del Sol, has made Ronda an important tourist destination.

Three music festivals are celebrated annually in Ronda: the Festival de Cante Grande which takes place in August and is dedicated to flamenco music, the International Folklore Gala, and the summer festival "Música y Crepúsculos."

Among its monuments we have the Mondragón Palace, City Hall, the Arab baths, or the Puente Neuvo, undoubtedly the symbol of the city, which unites the two most important neighbourhoods spanning a river gorge
